Geraldine "Gerry"

Age 90, of Penn Hills, peacefully at home in her sleep on Tuesday, April 7, 2020. Geraldine Esther (Thomas) was born on January 1, 1930 in Wilkinsburg, PA. Her parents were Daniel and Esther Thomas. Geraldine lived in Wilkinsburg and graduated from Wilkinsburg High School in 1947. She met Louis Eugene Mancuso at the Lexington Roller Skating Rink in East Liberty. They became skating partners, fell in love and were married on Dec. 29, 1949. They were blessed with three beautiful daughters, Alice (Clark Kemmerer) Angelo, Patricia (Dave) Bair, and LuAnne (Bill) Nelson; During Geraldine's lifetime, she became a Girl Scout Leader and Counselor for the Girl Scouts of Southwestern PA. She and Louis were members of the Laketon Heights United Methodist Church for over 50 years. During 35 of those years, she was the church secretary, serving 10 different pastors during these years. The Mancuso family lived in Penn Hills for over 40 years, and later moved to Wilkins Township. Geraldine loved birds, especially cardinals, and flower arranging. She was talented in writing poems, essays and short stories. Her greatest loves were her husband, Louis and her daughters, their spouses, the grandchildren, William (Liz) Stegner, Kurt (Candi) Stegner, Brandi Bair (Zack Fish), Benjamin Bair, and Kenley Leavor and the great grandchildren, Allie, Avery, Sophia, Samantha, and Sydney. Her brothers, Terry, and Howard Thomas were dearly loved. She and Terry enjoyed passing "the Card" every Christmas, and Howard in his quiet way was always there for her. Geraldine was especially blessed by her son in law, David, who made her a birthday cake every year on Jan 1. Geraldine often said, she was blessed by God for having wonderful Grandparents, Alice and Carol Rowand and parents, and her husband and family. God be with you 'till we meet again! Due to the Covid-19 health crisis, Funeral Services are private though a celebration of her life will be held in the future. Interment in Allegheny Cemetery. To best honor Gerry, family suggests donations be made to New Life Community Ministries Church, 447 Hamil Road, Verona, PA 15147.
